FROM PANCAKES TO SPRING BASKETS:
For 65 years, the Rotary Club of Dewitt hosted "Pancake Day" which, like so many other events, was brought to a halt in 2020 due to COVID-19. Not only was Pancake Day a staple in the DeWitt community by bringing together friends and families but it was also the Rotary Club of DeWitt's primary fundraiser.
Major sources of income from this event included ticket sales and advertisements placed in our "Flapjack Review." The "Flapjack" publication was a newspaper featuring articles about Dewitt Rotary’s philanthropic and grant projects and was given to each person who attended "Pancake Day".
Over it's 65 year span, hundreds of local businesses have been generous in their support. Major supporters in the past have included Dick’s Sporting Goods, Shoppingtown Mall, Dunkin' Donuts, Cazenovia Jewelers, Byrne Dairy, Syracuse Chiefs, Le Moyne College, TOPS Friendly Markets and many, many others.
Pancake Day served hundreds of thousands of pancakes while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars; all of which were returned to the community through various philanthropic grants.
Proceeds from our efforts have gone to numerous worthy causes including The DeWitt Food Pantry, Catholic Charities, Pass Da Rock, OnPoint For College, YMCA, Nottingham, JD and FM School Programs to name but a few.
Knowing our community was counting and depending on us, we set about the task of creating an alternative that might fill the void and our "Spring Basket Fundraiser" was born.
We hope you'll consider supporting the Rotary Club of DeWitt this year as we continue to put "Service above self"
